The Hump! TANGO with Max Kepler

What: Wednesday Dance Party. The preceding Open House is free and open to anyone who wants to drop by (even non-members who want to check out the Center)
Schedule: Wednesday April 28th, 2010
When: 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM (free social from 6PM to 8PM)
Where: In the main space
Who: 18+. Members and their guests only.
Cost: $15 ($10 for members who pay during the social 6-8 PM)

Tango all night.  We love sexy, sultry Tango.  Come and dance with us!

Lesson by *Max* 7-8pm $5 paid to Max.

About Tango:

Tango is an improvisational social dance which originated over a
century ago in Argentina and Uruguay.  Today, Argentine tango is
danced all over the world by people of every age and ethnicity. Tango
is versatile, with the power to express a wide range of emotions -
from joy to sorrow, nostalgia to fulfillment, sweetness to sarcasm -
depending on the music and the mood of the dancers.  Elegant,
sensuous, complex, and highly addictive, tango encourages a relaxed
concentration, a deep awareness of the music, a sensitive, playful,
trustful collaboration between partners and a cooperative attention
amongst everyone sharing the dance space.


About Max:

Max has been partner dancing since 1989. She began dancing Argentine
tango in 1997, while living in Los Angeles, and since then has studied
under some of the best instructors in the world, including Julio
Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Gachi Fernández and Sergio Cortazzo,
Leandro Palu and Andrea Misse, Fabian Salas, and Pablo Veron. Max has
been dancing and teaching tango up and down the West Coast since 2001.

Max's teaching style is highly interactive.  She places a strong
emphasis on partner connection, quality of movement, and correct
timing. In Max's classes, cultivation of an individual's dance skill
is the goal, and the method is guided cooperative learning amongst
students, sensitive elastic connection between partners, playful
exploration of possibilities, and plenty of fun!
