CSPC Clothing Exchange and Steampunk Costume Tutorial!
Description: This event will be held in the Annex and the RAW space. This is a clothing swap for everyone. Men, women, transgendered, transvestites, and steampunks. The Main Space of the Center will be draped with clothes for you to try on and take home. And, we will also be doing an informal tutorial on how to dress in steampunk attire. Want more help on your steampunk outfits than, “go do a Google image search”? Then come to this tutorial. We’ll give a general overview of the aesthetic as well as personal one-on-one help. And you can use finds you get from the swap. If you’ve never been to a clothing exchange, here is how it works: 1) Gather all of the clothes you don’t want, don’t where, don’t like any more and bring them to the Center. This can be done at the event or prior by contacting Sunny, sunnyinseattle29@yahoo.com 2) All of the clothes will get sorted by what they are (pants, skirts, shirts, etc) and by gender. 3) Dig in! Find clothes you like, try them on, and if you like them, they’re yours. FAQ: Q: What if I don’t have any clothes to bring? A: Doesn’t matter! There will be more than enough clothes for everyone. Q: What if I just want to drop off clothes but not stay for the exchange? A No problem! We’ll gladly accept clothing donations as long as they’re clean and gently used (Please, no used panties!) Q: What if I just want help with my steampunk outfit and am not interested in the exchange? A: Perfect! We’d be glad to help you with specific questions and give you suggestions on how to be a steamy fashion maven. Q: Can I bring non-member friends? A: Yes! All are welcome as long as they’re respectful of Center rules and are 18+ years old. Q: What happens to the left over clothes? A: They’ll be donated to Northwest Center for the Retarded. Q: I’m not comfortable changing clothes in front of other people. What do I do? A: Not a problem! There will be several areas where you can try on clothes privately. Q: I can’t get there that early in the morning. Is it ok if I come later on? A: Of course! Both the clothing exchange and steampunk tutorial are drop-in friendly. For more specific questions about the clothing exchange, email sunnyinseattle29@yahoo.com For steampunk questions, email steampunk@sexpositiveculture.org Set Up: 9 – 10am Event: 10 – 4pm.
