Joining the CSPC

Anyone interested in joining the Center attends an orientation, Intro to Sex Positive Culture, and then chooses between a basic or premium level membership. 

If you would like to see the space and talk to members before attending an orientation, Drop-In Tuesday is a great weekly event to check out.  Also, any event that does not specify "members and their guests only" and just says "18+" is open to the public.  Foundation events are open to the public.

Intro to Sex Positive Culture

The Intro to Sex Positive Culture is a mandatory orientation that all potential members must attend before joining, and is designed to introduce the broad range of experiences available at the Center for Sex Positive Culture. The orientation provides attendees with a history of sex positive culture in Seattle, and reviews some of the expectations and etiquette expected at our events. Orientations also include a question-and-answer period so that attendees can get any additional information.

The staff usually begins new membership paperwork during orientation.  After orientation ends, attendees pay for the membership of their choice and become new members.  The costs and benefits of our various levels of membership are outlined below, and it's $55 for a basic membership, $35 for annual renewals thereafter.  If you are undecided about joining, ask the staff to wait until the end of orientation to fill out the paperwork.  There is no obligation to join.

Orientations are generally held every Thursday at 7:00 p.m., every Saturday at 6:30 p.m., every first Wednesday at 6:30 PM, and every second and fourth Friday at 7:30 p.m. Please check our schedule to verify dates, as orientations are changed or canceled from time to time.

***Please note, orientations are restricted to people with picture ID showing that they are over 18 years old.  We accept Visa/MC and Visa/MC debit cards and cash and money orders.  No checks please.

Membership Levels

An outline of the costs and benefits of each membership type is listed below by membership level:

Basic Memberships

Friend

Friends may attend all of our events by paying the normal attendance fees (typically $15 to $20). Friends may bring local guests up to 12 times a year and out of town guests at anytime (with prior permission).

A Friend membership costs $55.  Renewals are $35 each year, during the month you joined.

Supportive Friend

Supportive Friends have the same privileges as a Friend. 

They donate an extra $35 once a year to the Center when renewing their membership.

Friend with Benefits

Friends with Benefits receive $5 off regular events at $10 or below, $10 off all other regular events. This does not include special events like New Year's Eve or off site events with the exception of the pool party.

This membership costs $350 a year and can be paid in two installments at the discretion of the Executive Director.

Basic Membership Guest Policy

All Friends, Supportive Friends and Friends with Benefits can bring paying non-member guests to any Center event. The following rules and restrictions apply:

        1. Basic members may bring non-member paying guests to our members-only events twelve times per calendar year.

        2. Basic members can bring up to two non-member guests per event.

        3. Basic members are required to arrive with or before their guests and the guests must depart when the basic member leaves.

        4. Basic members are responsible for their guests' behavior and will sign off on the guest release form.

        5. Non-member guests of basic members may attend only four events before required to become a Center member

        6. Guests must show valid ID.

All basic members can bring out of area guests at any time.  However, they must notify the Executive Director at least 48 hours in advance and include the guest's full legal name for a "permission slip" that will be sent to the member to print and show the event cashier.

Premium Memberships

Premium members contribute to the Center on a monthly or yearly basis, so they may attend all of our regular night events at no additional charge and they receive a reduction in costs for our special events (like New Years and other Special Events).

Partner 

Partners may bring up to five non-member guests to our members-only events at the normal attendance fees. Partners may also have up to three free hours of space usage each month on a nonexclusive, first-come first-served basis (subject to space availability and cancellation fees).

Partners pay a $50 one-time setup fee and $75 monthly. The first month's charge includes both the monthly fee and the one-time setup fee, for a total of $125. 

***Please note, there is a 10% discount and no setup fee if you choose to pay your year's Partner membership in full.  That comes to $810 and can be paid in cash, money order or credit card.

Lover

Lovers may bring one member or non-member guest to our members-only events at no additional charge, and may also bring up to eight additional non-member guests at the normal attendance fees. Lovers may also have up to six free hours of space usage each month on a nonexclusive, first-come first-served basis (subject to space availability and cancellation fees).

Lovers pay a $50 one-time setup fee and $150 monthly. The first month's charge includes both the monthly fee and the one-time setup fee, for a total of $200. 

***Please note, there is a 10% discount and no setup fee if you choose to pay your year's Lovers membership in full. That comes to $1,620 and can be paid in cash, money order or credit card.
